Gratz College is launching the first Master of Arts degree program in Antisemitism Studies in the United States in Fall 2024. This ground-breaking program will help fill the vacuum of knowledge about antisemitism across Jewish, non-Jewish, and governmental organizations responsible for generating policy to combat prejudice at a time of unprecedented Jew hatred.
It will:
• Provide an academic home for those seeking to develop both a deep theoretical and practical understanding of antisemitism;
• Help generate new and impactful research on the factors that contribute to growing antisemitism and test interventions that can successfully combat it; and
• Arm educators and practitioners with the most effective antisemitism pedagogy and programming.
Through degree concentrations in teaching, advocacy and research, graduates of this program will be uniquely qualified for prominent careers in education, think tanks, government relations, public policy, and community organizations (Jewish and non-Jewish).
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is eager to see this program take shape:
“We’re seeing a dangerous rise in antisemitism, hatred, and bigotry across our country – and it’s more important than ever that Pennsylvanians be equipped with a thorough knowledge of our shared history and the skills to discern fact from fiction. Gratz College is already renowned for its Holocaust and Genocide Studies programs, and I am encouraged the College is expanding upon that work with a new Master’s degree in Antisemitism Studies. I wish the faculty, staff, and especially the inaugural class of Antisemitism Studies students, great success in their work.”
The program is directed by Dr. Ayal Feinberg, antisemitism studies expert and Director of the Center for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights at Gratz College. The program boasts a distinguished interdisciplinary faculty from academia and leading public advocacy organizations. Despite its infancy, the degree has been endorsed by nearly one hundred scholars and public policy experts from around the world. Professor of Political Science at Kalamazoo College R. Amy Elman asserts, “With an emphasis on operationalizing knowledge, informed teaching and ethical advocacy, Gratz’s innovative graduate program fulfills a deep need in countering antisemitism.”
Gratz’s Antisemitism Studies program is also establishing ground-breaking partnerships with the world’s most prominent Jewish organizations and programs to combat antisemitism in the classroom, on campus, and in professional workspaces. In the first such partnership, Gratz and The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History have joined forces to launch the National Education Fellowship on Antisemitism. The aim of this fellowship is to generate and assess paradigm-shifting middle and high school curriculum to reduce Jew-hatred and prejudice more broadly.
On March 4, 2024, the master’s degree program will kick-off with a series of public lectures, including by scholars serving as affiliate faculty for the program. On April 2, 2024, Dr. Avinoam Patt, inaugural director of NYU’s Center for Study of Antisemitism and the Maurice Greenberg Professor of Holocaust Studies, will deliver a keynote lecture, titled, "Awake My People": Jewish Responses to Antisemitism in the Modern Period.” Additional talks will take place before the program officially begins in August.
Prospective students eager to start may apply now and take courses as early as March 2024 with electives in Antisemitism Studies already developed as a preview to the program.
Gratz College is grateful to the Isidore and Penny Myers Foundation for generously supporting the launch of the Antisemitism Studies program. Jay Myers, Board Chair, shared: “The Isidore and Penny Myers Foundation, a family foundation guided by Jewish American values, sees great worth in educating future generations about the roots of Antisemitism, and by doing so, working to combat it. This degree program will create scholars who can devote their talent to meet this challenge. Our Foundation is proud to support this work and by so doing, meet our obligation to help repair the world.”

B&W Quality Growers' best practices to grow healthy, flavorful leaves sustainably and naturally.
Watercress Beds Watercress beds at B&W Quality Growers' farm in Fellsmere, FL.
FELLSMERE, Fla., March 15, 2023 (Newswire.com)

As National Agriculture Week approaches, B&W Quality Growers (B&W) is proud to share its Smart Farming Initiative and the practices implemented to grow healthy products sustainably and naturally. With over 150 years of experience, B&W provides 100% natural watercress, arugula, and spinach on a year-round basis.
This annual availability is achieved by actively taking advantage of each of its eight farms' peak growing seasons. But following the sun has passive and environmental benefits too. Because each farm can recharge naturally in seasonal rotation, there is a reduced need and use of chemicals. By utilizing this system, B&W has reduced its chemical usage by over 50% in the past 10 years.
With B&W's primary product being watercress - a rapidly growing perennial plant that grows in waterbeds - a high sustainable priority is its water conservation efforts. To limit runoff and save valuable water resources, B&W utilizes a water recirculation system in each of the waterbeds that makes all the water used on the farm reusable. B&W is net zero for water waste.
As a grower that harvests, packs, and ships in-house, B&W's sustainable practices go from farm to facility. Its product bags are from recycled materials and are recyclable, and since switching from wax-coated cardboard, B&W's shipping and food service boxes are recyclable as well.
B&W Quality Growers' mission is to provide the highest quality and flavor of distinctive leafy greens, but it has a passion to do so sustainably and ecologically. For more information about B&W's Smart Farming Initiative and watercress, visit bwqualitygrowers.com.

Dynamic Media, the world's largest reseller of licensed background music for businesses, has released its 2023 Background Music Buyer's Guide. The guide is a comprehensive resource that makes it easy for companies to choose the right background music service for their unique needs.
The 110-page resource is the most complete guide ever written for the background music buyer and is available for free download on the company's website for a limited time.
Dynamic Media Co-founder and CEO Ryan Santangelo, Ph.D., led the six-month research effort with the support of a team of developers, consultants, and industry experts. The Dynamic Media research team drew on 20 years of industry experience working with over 50,000 brands across 45 countries to create the report.
They prepared the 2023 Buyer's Guide using expert interviews, direct customer feedback, analysis of industry data and trends, and comprehensive hands-on testing of every product and feature. The research focused on practical factors businesses should consider when shopping for a background music service. These factors ranged from simple elements like player options to deeper enterprise considerations like AI integration, network security, and central management capabilities.
"Our mission from the outset was to create a simple, easy-to-use resource that managers could access to help guide the background music decision process," Santangelo said.
"We wanted to create a guide that would be useful for both small businesses seeking a turnkey solution and large enterprises and franchise organizations seeking highly customized and scalable options," he said. "We're proud to say that feedback from our users indicates that we have succeeded in this goal."
The 2023 Buyer's Guide used selection criteria to distill the market from over 30 competitors to the top six providers:
SiriusXM Music for Business
Soundtrack Your Brand
Mood Media
Pandora for Business
Cloud Cover Media
Rockbot
These providers stood out for their industry experience, user-friendly platforms, and reputations as tier-one providers, among other factors. The Buyer's Guide offers detailed reviews and comparisons of each provider, including pricing, features, and customer support, to help businesses make informed decisions.
While all six music providers have their strengths, the Buyer's Guide did not identify all of them as recommended options. Only two providers, SiriusXM Music for Business and Soundtrack Your Brand, were awarded the 2023 Top Pick status for their exceptional performance in the SMB and Enterprise categories, respectively. The remaining four providers were not recommended due to limitations in their music platform or their company's service and support capabilities. This information highlights the importance of carefully evaluating each provider's offerings to ensure you choose the right option for your business needs.
2023 Buyer's Guide Top Picks
Small-to-Medium Business Category
SiriusXM Music for Business was named the best small business service, offering a professional and easy-to-use music experience for companies that do not need playlist building or customization.
